Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to announce that the Information Technology Center (ITC), which provides IT service to the departments of Biological Chemistry, Neurobiology, Neurology, Pharmacology and Radiation Oncology Research, will join the David Geffen School of Medicine IT office (DGIT), effective July 1, 2016. DGIT provides IT services and leadership for DGSOM under the direction of the Chief Information Officer, Ben Nathan.

Joining with DGIT allows the ITC to help shape the direction and future of IT initiatives in the school, harmonize institutional and departmental technology roadmaps, and provide new and enhanced services to constituents. For much of the last year, the ITC has worked closely with DGIT to improve IT security and services school-wide. Some of the results of this collaboration include last year’s encryption fair, and the forthcoming migration to Office 365 for email — a system that will come with 50 gigabyte mailboxes (50 times greater than current limits) and the ability for all DGSOM faculty, staff, and students to install the newest versions of Microsoft Office on all their devices (Windows, Mac, and Mobile) at no cost to the departments.

The ITC is led by Eileen Lu, who will continue in this role as well as join the DGIT leadership team. The support and service request process remains the same. Please send any additional questions you have about this change to Eileen.

On behalf of the ITC team members, we would like to thank you for continuing to trust us with your IT service needs.

Sincerely,

Benjamin Nathan
